Sony Media Software has announced ACID Pro 6, a significant
upgrade to its music creation and production application. This new release
includes several major development enhancements to the recording and MIDI
capabilities of the program, transforming version 6 into a full-featured
professional digital audio and MIDI workstation.
ACID Pro 6 now provides users with a multitrack recording
and MIDI sequencing environment. It has been re-engineered to perform faster
and more efficiently not only on dual-core and multiprocessor systems, but
also on single-CPU machines providing more efficient track buffering for
higher performance at lower latencies. No longer simply a loop-based
production tool, this application moves into the category of full-featured
DAW's by combining the ACID music creation technologies and 24-bit/192kHz
audio support with new MIDI editing and workflow capabilities.
New features:
Multitrack Audio and MIDI Recording - Simultaneously
record multiple tracks of audio and MIDI into the ACID timeline through a
variety of methods, including step recording, punch in/out, continuous
looping and more.
Multiple Media Files per Track - Layout multiple media
files per track, including one-shots, Beat-mapped events, loops and
disk-based files with new automatic crossfade capabilities.
Inline MIDI Editing - MIDI data can be manipulated
directly on the ACID timeline, using either a piano roll or a drum grid
interface. Edit all note position, velocity, pitch bend, and controller
information using an easy, visual approach in the main multitrack interface.
MIDI Filtering and Processing - ACID Pro 6 provides
processing of MIDI data directly on the timeline, including quantization,
swing, editing of velocity values, event duration changes, and more.
VSTi Parameter Automation - Using automation envelopes,
ACID Pro 6 provides increased mixing flexibility for VST instrument
parameters.
Drum Map Editing - The Drum Map Editor provides an
intuitive way to create custom Drum Map templates, to make working in the
Drum Grid even easier.
Project Sections - ACID Pro 6 now provides for the
creation of project sections that lets users more efficiently rearrange
time-based segments of audio and MIDI events located across multiple tracks.
External Control Surface Support - ACID Pro 6 allows
for hands-on mixing using external hardware control surfaces. Control
record, transport, envelopes, faders, mutes, solos, pans, and effects
automation. ACID Pro 6 includes native support for the Mackie Control
Universal, however the generic control interface option allows
user-customizable mapping of up to five generic control surfaces.
Record Input Monitoring - The new multitrack workflow
provides users with the ability to monitor audio signals with real-time
track effect DSP during recording sessions.
Additional ACID Pro 6 key features include:
On-the-fly punch-in recording.
Envelope automation recording.
Track record meters.
MIDI track envelopes for controllers.
MIDI keyframes for patch changes and sysex messages.
MIDI Quantize and Velocity filters.
MIDI file import and export.
Freehand envelope drawing on the timeline.
Gracenote CD album identification.
Dual/Multi-core processor support.
Film-style panning mode for 5.1 surround projects.
ACID Pro 6 is expected to be available in March at an MSRP of $499.95.
We all knew that Boa was amazingly
multi-talented, but little did we know that he had skill enough to juggle
everything AND tour with the likes of
ZILCH,
a true metal band from the western Pennsylvania circuit. He adds a HorrorNet
twist to an already kick-ass and skilled outfit of talent. We here at
HorrorNetOnline.com, and the rest of Horrornet, respectfully wish Boa and the
Zilch guys (Dave, Dan, Nick, John and Kevin) Good music, good gigs, and most of
all, good tidings. (We look forward to partying again soon, with everyone next
time)
Take care of our brother Boa, as he will take
care of you. ...but leave his bludgeoning for us.
Be sure to check out Zilch's website at
www.zilchmetal.com
or visit our links page.

Recently the staff here at
HorrorNetOnline.com had the rare chance to interview Tex (the butcher of
Albuquerque) the bass payer and one of the founding members of Alpha-Sloth,
the premier, up and coming band in western PA. It was more than we had hoped
for. We thought that we would share a bit of it with all of you.
HNOL Tell us about your
upcoming album.
TEX Well, you see, it’s
like this; if music could somehow have a
physical form
And that form would be say, a
kitty-cat, and that kitty-cat had explosive
diarrhea and,
simultaneous projectile vomiting. Pretty much that.
HNOL Interesting. So, you
are saying that your music goes in several directions at once?
TEX No, not at all. What
I’m trying to say is that this is the music that you can’t listen to, you have
to listen through it to get it. It’s like burning your hand on a hot stove as
a child. You can be told umpteen thousand times not to touch that stove but
until you actually touch it, you never really, truly understand…….It’s like
eating a whole pumpkin pie.
HNOL I see, so, where do you
get your inspiration?
TEX Inspiration? Hmmmmm…
well, that’s a good question. I suppose that our, or at least my
inspiration comes from the fellowship that Alpha-Sloth brings to it’s members.
We are beyond being a band or even a family. It’s as if we are all kindred
spirits brought together by a divine intervention... Either that or I am
inspired by beer and horse-shoes.
HNOL Is it true that your
Drummer, Professor Humpenstein, is really a blonde?
TEX Well, I’m not really
an authority on that. I suppose that you’d have to check his pubes.
HNOL We had a chance to
listen to your latest track while it was being recorded. I believe it is
called Chicken Shack. Tell us about it.
TEX Oh man, we had like,
the time of our lives recording that track, I drank so much beer, in fact, the
only memory I have of it was when J. D., our producer, told me that it was in
the key of “A”. I couldn’t fucking believe it! No, wait, that wasn’t it at
all. I remember now. We were just sitting around getting drunk well, I was
already drunk and someone said something about a subject that I can’t remember
now and it was like POW, I had a guitar in my hands and since my hands are the
last place a guitar should ever be, I started to play it. I played it until
the tambourine stopped. Then some other things happened.
HNOL You mentioned beer
twice now. Drink a lot of beer do you?
TEX Hell yeah, we all
do. You could say that Alpha-Sloth is fueled by the Babbling Brook However, if
you believe in that sort of thing you could say that the tide is controlled by
the moon.
HNOL Ok, I have to ask,
what’s with all the aliases?
TEX Aliases? No, I don’t
think so. Everyone involved in this project was born in this country.
HNOL o…….k…….
HNOL Tex, thank you for
coming in and spending some time with HorrorNetOnline.com today. We wish you
the best.
TEX Hey, no fucking
problem, what the hell else am I gonna do? Watch TV? Eat a biscuit?... Low me,
blow me. Twas my pleasure.
